Regional Conference
June 9-11, 2000
Madison, WI

The space-age theme of Launching A New Century is meant to convey a sense of adventure about new possibilities for women and girls in the fields of advanced technology, non-traditional areas of study, and unexplored horizons of opportunity for advancement in all areas of education.

An important component of the Regional Conference will be an in-depth exploration of the voucher threats in each of the five Great Lakes states. By June 2000, some of the states will be facing serious threats to their existing systems of education, and the November election will be less than six months away. In the meantime, AAUW members are urged to join and support coalition efforts opposed to voucher programs. Information about potential coalition partners can be found on page 5 of the Woman-to-Woman: A Community Dialogue on Social Justice booklet. Each organization listed has a website address allowing ease of access to materials provided by the organization, or resource contacts who can offer suggestions about ways to become involved in local communities.
