Launching A New Century

Every Great Lakes Regional Conference brings its own special excitement, but the one planned for June 9 - 11 promises to be "out of this world" for three big reasons: it will take place in beautiful Madison, Wisconsin; the program selections are without parallel; and you will be there to make the weekend a success! The program planning committee has tried to include elements that will appeal to branch members and member leaders, college/university liaisons, and members at large. If you are a first time conference attendee, there is a session especially designed for you on Friday evening.

The following are some of the highlights of Launching A New Century.

Keynote address by a female astronaut from NASA Johnson Space Center in Houston
Friday and Saturday workshops on topics of interest to members
Saturday Educational Foundation and Sunday Leadership Plenary sessions
Expression of appreciation for past and future Great Lakes Regional leaders
Educational Foundation American Fellowship recipient, Kimberly Miller, as guest speaker
EF Sales and LAF Silent Auction
Charter bus transportation options offered by several states
Friday evening reception introducing the astronaut and celebrating the theme of the conference
Saturday night "entertainments" developed by each state, and performed by members
IFUW Plenary on the 27th Triennial Conference in Ottawa, Canada, August 11-17, 2001
Sunday morning interfaith service celebrating women’s spirituality
Exercise options provided for health conscious members
Public Policy update on current issues prior to the November election
Complimentary shuttle service between the airport and the Sheraton Madison Hotel

The component that will make the weekend complete, is your attendance at the Sheraton Madison Hotel, June 9 - 11, 2000, where Launching A New Century will "blast off" on a mission celebrating educational equity for women and girls by examining frontiers of opportunity only beginning to be explored.
