SYCAMORES HELD IN CHECK AGAINST KENT STATE, 4-0

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The Indiana State baseball team scratched together a pair of hits in bowing to Kent State, 2-0 on Saturday morning at the Louisville Cardinal Baseball Classic. ISU falls to 5-4 on the season while Kent State is 4-8.

Junior right-hander Ryan Tatusko took the mound for Indiana State, pitching five and a third innings, allowing six hits and three runs. He fanned four Golden Flash batters in the outing. He suffered his first defeat of the season, falling to 2-1.

Freshman Skyler Pearson pitched well in relief, tossing three and a third innings of four-hit ball and allowing just one run. Matt Shelton came on to get the final two outs, striking out one.

Kent State starter Ryan Smith pitched well, allowing no Sycamore hits or runs over five innings of work. Smith picked up the victory to improve to 2-1 on the season.

ISU received hits from senior Chris Schmidt who went 1-for-3 on the day while Dave Brumagin was likewise 1-for-3. Five different Sycamores were hit by a pitch and senior Ryan Bond recorded his fourth stolen base of the season.
