SYCAMORES FALL TO VALPARAISO, 11-2

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- Indiana State fell in game one of today’s (March 31) doubleheader against Valparaiso by the score of 11-2. ISU falls to 11-12 on the season while Valpo improved to 5-13.

ISU plated one run in each of the second and third innings. In the second, Marcus Artner belted an RBI single to right field which scored Dave Brumagin to make the score 5-1. The Sycamores crept within 5-3 in the third when Chris Schmidt’s RBI single to right which plated Ryan Strausborger.

Valpo scored five runs in the second, and added scores in each of the final three innings to walk away with an 11-2 victory.

Sycamore starter Ryan Tatusko fell to 3-3 on the season by pitching five and two thirds innings, allowing eight hits and eight runs. Four of the Crusaders’ runs were unearned. He struck out four. Brian Gass came on for the final one and third innings, giving up a pair of hits and three runs.

ISU and the Crusaders are currently playing game two of today’s doubleheader.

The third and final game of the series will be on Sunday, April 1 at 1:00 p.m. (ET). This is a time change from earlier published schedules.
