SYCAMORES FALL IN GAME THREE TO BRADLEY, 8-2

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -
The Indiana State Sycamores fell 8-2 to the Bradley this weekend as
the Braves earned a three-game MVC series sweep at Sycamore Field.
ISU falls to 21-23, 4-14 MVC while Bradley improved to 27-16, 10-8
MVC.
Bradley plated four runs
in the first four innings en route to taking a 4-0 lead over the
Sycamores.
ISU scratched out a run in
the fifth when Ryan Strausborger grounded into a double play with
the bases loaded to make the score 4-1.
Bradley added two runs in
each of the sixth and seventh innings to make the score 8-1.
The Sycamores added their
final run in the eighth when Marcus Artner scored from second base
on a Bradley throwing error at second base to make the score 8-2.
Chad Dawson took the loss
for the Sycamores as he fell to 2-2 on the season. He pitched five
innings, allowing seven hits and five runs. Andrew Strange worked an
inning of relief, while Josh Varno worked a pair. Nathan Inman
finished the final inning for the Sycamores.
Chris Wright of Bradley
improved to 4-1 on the season with his six inning effort, in which
he allowed five hits and a run. Jon Goebel came in to pitch the
final 1.2 innings, giving up no hits or runs. He worked his way out
of a bases loaded jam in the eighth to help preserve the 8-2 Bradley
victory.
Josh Abercrombie recorded
three consecutive multi-hit games this weekend as he went 2-for-3
for the Sycamores. Strausborger, Nick Ciolli, Dave Brumagin, Artner,
Brett Siegmund and Sean Osborne all recorded hits for the Sycamores
as well.
ISU returns to action on
Tuesday, May 8 when they host Ball State for its final home
non-conference game of the year. First pitch is set for 6:00 p.m.
