October 3, 2006 LAURA ENGLE NAMED CONFERENCE ATHLETE OF THE WEEK SAINT LOUIS, Mo. – Indiana State’s Laura Engle was named the Missouri Valley Conference Athlete of the Week for her performance at the Notre Dame Invitational over the weekend. The award is the first for Engle this year and the third of her career. Engle was the Sycamores top finisher at the Notre Dame Invitational over the weekend. Engle entered the meet as the defending champion in the Gold race and finished third with a season-best time of 17:58. The effort helped to propel the Sycamores to the overall team victory with 123 pts followed by IPFW (129), Calvin College (130), Akron (158) and Ball State (161). Indiana State will be back in action on October 14 as the Sycamores
host the Pre-Nationals at the LaVern Gibson Championship Course.
A record number of schools are expected to participate in the event
with 97 women’s teams and 93 men’s teams scheduled to
