SYCAMORES HAVE FOUR
NAMED TO MVC SCHOLAR-ATHLETE TEAM
ST. LOUIS, Mo. – Indiana State cross country
athletes Dani Prince, Laura Engle, Sean Bowman and David Santelik
were named to the MVC Scholar-Athlete released by the conference
offices this week.
The distinction is given to athletes accounting for academic and
athletic excellence. Those eligible must have at least a 3.00 cumulative
grade point average (4.00 scale). Student-athletes must have reached
sophomore academic and athletic standing at their institutions,
and they must have completed at least one full academic year at
their institution.
Engle received her third MVC Scholar-Athlete award and headlined
the list of honorees with a 3.93 grade-point-average while studying
Art. Prince was close behind with her second scholar-athlete honor
with a 3.89 in Elementary Education.
Bowman was second among the men with a 3.93 in Physical Education,
making the award the second for the senior during his career at
Indiana State. Santelik picked up his first ever MVC Scholar-Athlete
accolades after maintaining a 3.88 grade-point-average in Accounting.
Both teams continue to train for the Cross Country Regionals next
weekend in Bowling Green, Ohio. At stake during the races will be
a birth in the NCAA Championships hosted by Indiana State on Nov.
20.
