WOMEN’S CROSS COUNTRY FIFTH IN THE NATION IN G.P.A.

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – Indiana State women’s cross country team finished fifth in the nation with an overall G.P.A. of 3.645 as recognized by the Women’s Intercollegiate Cross Country Coaches Association.

The honor marked the fifth time in the last six years that the women have been ranked in the top six in the nation for excellence in academics.

Other in-state teams that appeared on the list were Indiana University (second, 3.759), Purdue (11th, 3.590), IPFW (14th, 3.570), Notre Dame (35th, 3.476) and IUPUI (49th, 3.416).

Indiana State was the best in the Valley in overall G.P.A. followed by Bradley (10th, 3.613), Evansville (19th, 3.550), Missouri State (t-28th, 3.500), Southern Illinois (t-28th, 3.500), Drake (65th, 3.330) and Wichita State (81st, 3.269).

“I was very pleased of the team’s fifth place finish among Division I programs in overall team G.P.A.,” women’s cross country coach John Gartland said. “I feel fortunate to coach student athletes that put such a high priority in academics.”
