SYCAMORE MEN RECORD SOLID FINISH AT PRE-NATIONALS

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- Indiana State men's cross country team placed 13th out of 34 teams with 406 points in the white race of the Pre-Nationals meet hosted by the Sycamores at the LaVern Gibson Championship course on Saturday. All but one of the teams that placed ahead of the Sycamores were ranked in the top 30 in the nation, and all of the top 12 were receiving votes in the Mondo Men's Top 30 Poll.

Blaine Zimmerman was the Sycamores' top finisher with a personal-best time of 24:45 to place 54th overall. It is the first time this season that Zimmerman has led the Sycamores as he has bested his race times in each of his four events.

Justin Kunz and Jordan Fife also broke the 25 minute barrier with times of 24:53 and 24:58, which marks the first time this season the Sycamores have had three runners post sub-25 minute times. Kunz's time was also a personal best and was good for 72nd overall, while Fife matched his time from the Notre Dame Invt. to place 79th.

Sean Bowman and Antonio McDaniel finished the scoring for ISU as they placed 90th and 111th, respectively. Bowman recorded a time of 25:07 while McDaniel had a personal-best mark of 25:18.

No. 3 Colorado won the race with 70 points, followed by No. 7 Notre Dame with 96 points and No. 13 Florida at 152. ISU placed ahead of No. 27 Arizona State and Michigan State, who was receiving votes in the national poll.
