problem shoulder but, if healthy, will allow him
to excel in the Sycamores’ defensive backfield.
2005 — Battled the
pain of injury to start eight games at the
Sycamores’ right cornerback position, and see
action in nine contests ... Posted 39 tackles on
the year, with one for a loss ... Recorded an
interception, which he returned for 24 yards and
broke up six other passes throughout the season
... Returned four punts for an average of 8.5
yards ... Paced the team with nine tackles at
Murray State.
2004 — An 11-game player,
he recorded 46 tackles on the season from the
cornerback position ... Tallied a season-best 11
tackles at Youngstown State ... Was credited
with a tackle for loss versus Murray State ...
Forced a fumble in the season-opener against
Miami (Ohio) ... Broke up a team-high five
passes, including a pair in the double-overtime
victory over Illinois State ... Posted at least
one tackle in 10 of 11 games.
2003 — Took over at the
left cornerback position midway through the
Indiana game, and started the remaining nine
contests following a season ending injury to
Clythel Branson ... Recorded 27 total tackles on
the season, including one tackle for loss ...
While breaking up two passes on the year, James
also recorded two interceptions ... First pick
came in the season opener against Ball State,
second was at home in the 23-7 win over Eastern
Illinois ... Was credited with a season-best
seven tackles in the season finale at Illinois
State.
2002 — Sat out the season
as a redshirt.
High School — A
three-year letterwinner at defensive back for
Pickerington (Ohio) High, James earned multiple
honors for his gridiron talents ... He was named
all-state, all-district, all-county, as well as
being named team Most Valuable Player ... He was
coached at Pickerington by Jack Johnson.

Lamar James on October 19, 1983 to Wilbert and
Kathy James in Pickerington, Ohio ... His father
