MOSS AND TUNNELL EARN
MVC HONORS
ST. LOUIS, Mo. – Indiana State
senior David Moss (Chicago, Ill./Thornwood
HS) has been named the 2006 All-Missouri Valley Conference
Second Team. It is the second consecutive year Moss has been named
to the all-conference second team. He is the 14th player at ISU
to earn All-MVC honors. Freshman Jay Tunnell (Topeka,
Kan./West HS) was named to the 2006 Missouri Valley Conference
All-Freshman Team.
Moss, who earned honorable mention all-conference
honors after his sophomore campaign in 2004, was named to the MVC
Scholar-Athlete Second Team earlier this week. He played and started
in 19 games this season, despite suffering a partially torn hamstring
during the year.
He finished the regular season second in the league
in scoring (16.3ppg), and averages 5.7 rebounds per contest. Moss
is sixth on the school’s all-time scoring list, seventh in
made three pointers (113), eighth in assists (340) and seventh in
steals (129). He led the Sycamores in scoring a team-high ten times
this season. Moss also led the squad in assists eight times this
season, and had the team-high in rebounds four times.
Tunnell, who becomes the fifth Sycamore to be
named to the All-Freshman Team, finished the year averaging 8.7
points and 3.5 rebounds per game. He was the second-leading scorer
among freshmen in the MVC. Tunnell played in 27 games during the
regular season, and made 26 starts. He scored in double figures
13 times this season, including a career-high 18 points at Bradley
on January 21.
ISU finished the regular season with a record
of 12-15 (4-14 MVC). The Sycamores earned the No. 9 seed for the
2006 State Farm Missouri Valley Conference Tournament. ISU takes
on Drake in the opening round. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
at Savvis Center in St. Louis.
