SYCAMORES FALL TO EVANSVILLE IN FINAL SECONDS 50-49

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – The Indiana State University Sycamores suffered their fourth straight loss Wednesday night in Hulman Center as the Evansville Aces scored in the final three seconds of the game to post a 50-49 Missouri Valley Conference victory.

The Sycamores were down by as many as 10 points early in the contest but fought back and trailed by just three at the intermission, 25-22. Indiana State came all the way back to take a 34-32 lead on a Gabe Moore three pointer. The Sycamores had their biggest lead of the night at four after a Harry Marshall bucket.

The Aces came back with seven straight points but the Sycamores would not surrender. Jay Tunnell scored, was fouled, and made the free throw to knot the score at 39. A Cole Holmstrom three pointer and 1-of-2 free throws from Marshall put ISU on top 43-40. Evansville rallied to regain the lead by one but ISU kept coming back. The Sycamores had their last lead at 49-48 with 21 seconds left. However, they could not prevent Evansville from scoring and then failed to score themselves in suffering the loss.

Indiana State fell to 11-8 overall and 4-5 in the Missouri Valley Conference with the loss. The Sycamores will have to try and strop their current losing streak on the road as the visit the Creighton Bluejays Saturday. Tip-off is 2:05 p.m.
