SYCAMORES FALL IN BRACKETBUSTER GAME TO MIAMI (OHIO)
TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -
Indiana State was limited to just one point in the first 10 minutes
of the second half as the Miami University Redhawks rallied from a
halftime deficit to defeat the Sycamores 70-58 in the Hulman Center
Saturday afternoon.
The Sycamores played well
in the opening half. The Redhawks led early but the Sycamores fought
back, tying the game at 12. ISU had their first lead of the game on
a Gabe Moore three pointer but Maimi came right back to retake the
lead. Trent Wurtz scored off an assist from Mick Yelovich and added
a free throw to put ISU on top 20-18. Miami scored to tie the game
for the third time but the Sycamores ran off 10 straight points to
take a double digit lead. ISU had to hold on in the final two
minutes and led 38-31 at the intermission.
The Sycamores would score
just one point in the first nine minutes of the second half while
the Redhawks built a 44-39 lead. Despite their problems in scoring,
Indiana State was never out of the game. However, the Sycamores were
never able to get any closer than six in the final five minutes and
the Redhawks made their free throws down the stretch to post the
win.
Gabe Moore finished with
15 points and eight assists in the game. Cole Holmstrom had 13
points with Trent Wurtz adding 11. Adam Arnold led ISU in rebounding
with eight.
Indiana State falls to
