SYCAMORE DUO EARNS VALLEY POSTSEASON HONORS

ST. LOUIS - Indiana State senior Trent Wurtz and sophomore Adam Arnold were honored today by the Missouri Valley Conference on their specialty teams.   Wurtz was named to the First Team Scholar-Athlete squad while Arnold was named to the second team.  Arnold was also named to the All-Bench team today.

Wurtz, a senior from Sheboygan Wisconsin, carries a 3.62 grade point average in Communications.  Wurtz has started every game this season, averaging 8.7 points and 4.9 rebounds while playing with Achilles tendonitis.  Wurtz has been in double figures 10 times this season, getting first career double-double of 11 points and 10 rebounds vs. Western Michigan.  Wurtz had a season high 21 points at IP-Fort Wayne and at Northern Iowa, and a career high 12 rebounds against Tulane. 

Arnold, a sophomore from Decatur Indiana, has come off the bench to lead ISU in rebounding at 6.1 per game.  Arnold scored 13 points and grabbed 10 rebounds against Wagner, followed by 13 points against Purdue.  Arnold has had 12 games with eight or more rebounds, ranking him 8th in the MVC in rebounding.  Arnold carries a 3.60 GPA in Chemistry.

The Sycamores will take on Illinois State Thursday in the play-in round of the State Farm Missouri Valley Conference tournament in St. Louis.  Tip off time is set for 9:35pm Terre Haute time.  You can hear the game on WSDM 92.7 FM or on-line at www. Crock927.com.
