LAMAR
LEE INKS NATIONAL LETTER OF INTENT WITH INDIANA STATE
TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -
Indiana State University head men’s basketball coach Kevin McKenna
today (April 11) has announced that Lamar Lee from Lafayette
Jefferson High School in Lafayette, Ind. has signed a National
Letter of Intent to play for the Sycamores beginning in the 2007-08
season.
"We are excited to add Lamar
Lee to our basketball team," McKenna said. "With Gabe Moore graduating
next year, we had a need at his position. Lamar is a solid point guard
prospect who can shoot, defend, and handle the ball. He is a physical
guard that should fit in well in the MVC."
Lee, a 6-1, 170 pound guard,
averaged 15 points, three assists and two steals as a junior at
McCutcheon High School in Lafayette. Lee did not play his senior
season due to a ruling from the Indiana High School Athletic
Association after he transferred to Lafayette Jeff.
"Lamar had a tough year with
the IHSAA ruling on transfer eligibility and he had to sit out,"
McKenna said. "He worked extremely hard in the class room, practiced
every day for Lafayette Jeff, and lifted weights all year to prepare
himself for major college basketball. His coach, Scott Bunnell, did an
outstanding job of coaching and helping him prepare for college. Coach
Lansing did a great job recruiting him and encouraging him to work
hard during his senior year. We are looking forward to having Lamar on
our team," said McKenna.
Lee will join Aaron Carter (Leopold,
Indiana/Perry Central High School), Jordan Printy (Marion,
Iowa/Linn-Marr High School) and Clayton Vette (Waverly,
Iowa/Waverly-Shell Rock High School) next season. Lee becomes
McKenna’s first signee as the Sycamores’ head coach.
