SYCAMORES FALL IN
FINAL EXHIBITION GAME IN CANADA
GUELPH, Ont. - Indiana State dropped its final
game in a three-game exhibition road trip in Canada on Monday, falling
62-52 to Guelph University in men’s basketball action.
The Sycamores trailed 35-20 at half before scraping to within three-points
late in the second half. However, the team missed a late three-point
shot that would have tied the game and Guelph drained free throws
down the stretch for the win.
“We got off to a really poor start,” Waltman said after
the game. “We were a little back on our heels and the disappointing
thing is that in the last 20 minutes we were probably the better
team than they were.”
The Sycamores outscored the Gryphons 32-27 in the second half with
ISU sophomore Gabe Moore creating scoring opportunities driving
to the basket. Moore led Indiana State with 15 points, followed
by Adam Arnold with 11 and freshman Norman Wells with eight.
“This was unbelievably beneficial for us,” Waltman
said of the tour through Canada, “We got a chance to see which
of our new six kids can play right now and which might need some
seasoning. I think, now, the kids see what it is we need to work
on.”
Indiana State men’s basketball will begin the 2006-07 season
in the states on November 4 when the Sycamores host Missouri Southern.
