CARBONDALE, Ill.

Indiana
State
failed to pick off a game from No. 25 Southern Illinois this
weekend in its three-game Missouri Valley Conference series. SIU
defeated the Sycamores a score of 7-0 in the final game of the
weekend. ISU falls to 18-20, 6-11 MVC while SIU improved to 31-7,
13-4 MVC.
SIU held an early 1-0 lead in
the bottom of the second, then scored one more in the fourth,
three more in the fifth and a pair of final runs in the sixth for
the 7-0 score.
Freshman Meredith Simpson went
2-for-3 on the afternoon at the plate. She had two of ISU’s five
hits against the Salukis.
Sophomore Darcy Wood dropped to
15-11 on the season with the loss. She allowed six earned runs in
six innings of work. Wood struck out four batters on the day.
ISU looks to regroup as they
travel to Illinois State
for a single-game on Wednesday afternoon. The Redbirds swept the
Sycamores in a doubleheader at Price Field earlier in the season.
First pitch on Wednesday is set for
4:00 p.m.
