KATIE ARMOUR SELECTED TO NFCA MIDEAST ALL-REGION FIRST TEAM

BUFFALO, NY Indiana State freshman designated player Katie Armour (New Palestine, Ind./New Palestine) has been named a First Team All-Mideast Region selection by the National Fastpitch Coaches’ Association. She is the first Indiana State player to be named to the Mideast Region’s First Team.

Armour, whose season was cut short by a broken ankle at the campaign’s mid-point, led the team with a .377 batting average while belting a team-high 10 doubles. At the time of injury, her doubles total was first in the Missouri Valley Conference, led the Mideast Region, and was ranked in the nation’s Top 15.

Despite the injury, her hot start also consisted of 14 RBI, which finished as the third-most on the team. She added a triple and held a slugging percentage of .551. Armour had seven multi-hit games on the year, including a 2-for-4 outing with a pair of runs driven in, a double and a triple in the tournament clinching victory over St. Mary’s (Calif.) at the Wolfe Sycamore Classic.

Armour was selected to the All-Wolfe Sycamore Classic team for efforts during the two-day event.

This marks the second consecutive year that a Sycamore has been named to the all-region squad as junior Jessica McGivney was a second team selection in 2005.
