JACKIE CHOMICKI NAMED FIRST TEAM ACADEMIC ALL-MVC

ST. LOUIS – For the second time in as many years, ISU junior Jackie Chomicki (Overland Park, Kan.) has been named a First Team member of the Missouri Valley Conference’s Scholar-Athlete squad, as announced by the league office this morning. Chomicki also earned All-MVC Scholar-Athlete First Team honors in 2005, and was recently selected as a member of ESPN The Magazine’s Academic All-District First Team by the College Sports Information Directors of America. She is currently a nominee for Academic All-America honors.

Chomicki, who carries a 4.00 GPA in Fitness and Exercise Science, hit .268 this season for the Sycamores. She tied for the team lead by drawing 16 walks, and posted six sacrifices this season, which was tied for the most on the team. Her 33 career sacrifices are tied for sixth in school history.

She is a Verizon Scholar Athlete and member of the MVC Honor Roll. She played in and started all 51 games this year for the Sycamores, and was 7-of-8 in stolen base attempts this season.
