SYCAMORES TRAVEL TO IU AND BUTLER FOR MID-WEEK GAMES

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – With their record now standing at (15-18, 1-10 MVC) the Sycamores now have a break from conference opponents as they will meet IU and Butler over the next two days.

On Tuesday, April 10 the Sycamores will make their way down to Bloomington, Ind. to face the Hoosiers of Indiana for a single game set beginning at 4:00 p.m. eastern.

The Hoosiers are coming off a pair of losses to Northwestern (14-7, 5-1) in games played on Sunday, April 8. Overall the Hoosiers own a record of (18-19, 1-5 Big Ten) with a record of 5-6 in home games.

Offensively the Hoosiers are led by Junior Jennilee Huddleston (Peachtree City, Ga. / Starr’s Mill). Huddleston is a utility infielder who is currently batting .360 with six homeruns and 25 RBI’s while starting in all 37 games the Hoosiers have played this season.

From the mound the Hoosiers are led by Sophomore Monica Wright (Morrison, Ill. / UNI). Wright has a personal record of 11-12 while owning an ERA of 3.08 to go along with her 100 strikeouts on the year.

The Hoosiers lead the all-time series 44-14.

On Wednesday, April 11 the Sycamores motor over to Indianapolis, Ind. to face the Bulldogs of Butler for a twinbill with games at 3:00 and 5:00 p.m. eastern.

The Bulldogs are well rested as their last six games have either been postponed or cancelled due to weather. Their last game played was on Tuesday, April 3 as they suffered a 6-0 loss to Purdue in West Lafayette, Indiana. Overall the Bulldogs have a record of (13-12, 2-1 Horizon) with a 3-1 record in home games.

Offensively the Bulldogs are led by Junior Amy Hyerczyk (Palos Park, Ill. / Stagg). Hyerczyk is a lefty first baseman who is currently hitting .470 in 25 games this season with two homeruns and 23 RBI’s.

From the mound the Bulldogs are led by Freshman Jennifer Chasteen (Avon, Ind.). Chasteen has a personal record of 6-2 and owns an ERA of 2.50 to go along with her 27 strikeouts in 47.2 innings pitched.

The Sycamores lead the all-time series 25-9.

Lately the Sycamores have relied on the bats of Sophomore Meredith Simpson (Mission Viejo, Calif. / Capo Valley) and Senior Jackie Chomicki (Overland Park, Kan. / Blue Valley Northwest).

Simpson has an average of .343 with a team leading 36 hits this season. Chomicki is hitting for a .261 average on the season but has come on of late notching hits in 8 of the last 12 games.

From the mound the Sycamores have their mainstay in Junior Darcy Wood (Greenwood, Ind. / Center Grove) as she is among the conference leaders in strikeouts with 178 so far this season. The Sycamores also seem to have found another reliable weapon in Freshman Meagan McCurdy (Indianapolis, Ind./ North Central) as she owns a team best 1.42 ERA to go with her 7-3 personal record in 18 total appearances.
