HOST MISSOURI STATE, SENIOR DAY ON SUNDAY

HAUTE, Ind. –
The Sycamores are set to host the Missouri State bears for a three-game
series this weekend at Price Field on the Indiana State University
campus. The series begins on Saturday, April 21 with a doubleheader
starting at 12:00 noon (ET) and concluded on Sunday, April 22 with
a single game starting at 12:00 noon (ET). Senior Day festivities
honoring this years class of seniors begins after the series finale
on Sunday.
The Sycamores
are coming into this weekends games coming off of a big Missouri
Valley Conference victory over #18 Illinois State on Wednesday of
this week 8-7 in 11 innings. Darcy Wood (10-15) picked up the victory
as she went for a complete game, 11.0 innings, giving up seven runs
on 12 Redbird hits while striking out five. Sophomore Lauren Kebely
went 2 for 6 with two RBI and a run scored while Junior Kelsey Anderson
went 2 for 4 with two RBI punctuated by a solo homerun in the 3rd
inning.
The Sycamore
record now stands at (17-20, 3-11 MVC).
The Missouri
State Bears (18-22, 7-8 MVC) are coming into this weekend coming
off a big win of their own after achieving a split in their two
game series with #20/22 Southern Illinois last weekend.
The Bears are
led offensively by Senior outfielder Katie Martin who is currently
batting a team leading .322 to go with five homeruns and 20 RBI
on the season. Sophomore infielder Jessie Smith leads the team with
six homeruns to go with her .281 average and 19 RBI.
The Bears pitching
rotation starts with Junior Melissa Porche (13-14) and she is aided
by Freshman Megan Ramsey (5-6). Porche currently has an ERA of 2.06
and leads the MVC in innings pitched (179.2). She is also 3rd in
the MVC in strikeouts with 177; Indiana State’s Darcy Wood
is 2nd with 193. Ramsey owns an ERA of 3.31 and she has struck out
45 batters in 72.0 innings pitched.
