FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
INDIANA
STATE DROPS GAME THREE TO THE BEARS 1-0
TERRE
HAUTE, Ind. – The Bears claimed a 1-0 advantage in
the top of the 2nd inning and never looked back in the 7.0 inning
1-0 victory. With the loss the Sycamores record drops to (18-22,
4-13 MVC) and with the win the Bears record moves to (20-23, 9-9
MVC).
Junior Darcy
Wood started the game for Indiana State and went the whole way pitching
7.0 innings giving up one run on seven hits in the loss.
The game was
locked at 0-0 heading into the top of the 2nd before Missouri State
Sophomore Brook Kempker hit a deep fly that just barely cleared
the fence in left field for a one run homerun. This would make the
game 1-0 in favor of the Bears and it would prove to be enough for
the victory.
Missouri State
Junior Melissa Porche received her second victory of the weekend
as she went 7.0 innings giving up only six hits while not allowing
any Sycamore runs to come home.
The Sycamore
best chance came in the bottom of the 6th inning as they advanced
a runner to third base before the Bears tallied the final outs of
the inning to end the Sycamore threat. Junior Kelsey Anderson led
the inning off with a single followed by another single from Senior
Jessica McGivney. Pinch runners came aboard for both batters and
with smart base running Freshman Rachel McCleary was able to advance
to third base with only one out. The next two batters were retired
in order to end the inning.
Junior Kelsey
Anderson went 2 for 2 and Senior Natalie Kopp went 2 for 3 on the
Sycamore Senior Day 2007.
Following the
game Indiana State Softball celebrated Senior Day where the 2007
senior class was honored. This year’s senior class includes:
