INDIANA STATE HOSTS IUPUI IN 2007 HOME FINALE

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – Wednesday’s Sycamore Softball (18-22, 4-13 MVC) home finale against IUPUI (11-27, 4-5 Mid Con) will be a break from Missouri Valley Conference action as Indiana State returns to conference play this weekend in Peoria, Ill. to play the Braves of Bradley.

The Sycamores are coming off a week of highs and lows. A week ago on Wednesday, April 18 Indiana State defeated the #18 Redbirds of Illinois State in an 8-7 11.0 inning thriller but followed that up by going 1-2 in the weekend series against Missouri State.

Following the game on Sunday, April 22, the Sycamores honored the 2007 senior class. Sycamore fans have one last chance to see these seniors in action in the twinbill against IUPUI.

The Jaguars of IUPUI are lead offensively by their senior outfielder Sarah Needy who is currently batting .368 with one homerun and 15 RBI while scoring 16 runs. Needy is assisted by Cayleigh Harvey; the sophomore utility player is now batting .293 with three homeruns and 16 RBI, scoring 14 runs.

The Jaguar pitching staff is lead by Sophomore Breanna Howell (6-12) who owns a 4.55 era to go along with her 50 strikeouts in 118.1 innings pitched this season. Howell is backed up by Freshman Jessica McGown (0-10) who has struck out 30 batters in 59.1 innings this season with an era of 6.61.

Come out and show your support for Sycamore Softball as they wrap up their 2007 home schedule. The doubleheader is scheduled to start at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 25 with the second game coming about 20 minutes after the completion of game one.
