INDIANA STATE ADVANCES TO MVC TOURNAMENT

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. - Despite being rained out this past Sunday at Drake, the Indiana State Sycamores have qualified for the State Farm MVC Softball Tournament for the first time since 2000.

ISU, the tournament's No. 8 seed, will face off against the No. 5 seed Evansville in the opening game of the championship on May 10 to be held in Normal, Ill. ISU and the Purple Aces battle beginning at Noon (EST).

For the first time in the history of the league, eight of the tournament's 10 teams have qualified for the single elimination championship.

If the Indiana State defeats Evansville, they will have to come right back and face No. 4 Wichita State at 5 p.m. on May 10.

Should the Sycamores win twice on Thursday, they would advance to face off against No. 1 seeded Creighton in the first semifinal game on May 11. First pitch for that contest is set for 1:00 p.m.

On Saturday, May 12, Valley TV cameras will showcase the Redbird Softball Complex in Normal, Ill., for the 2:30 p.m. (ET) telecast of the championship game. The championship contest will be shown live at 2:30 p.m. (ET) on May 12 on Fox College Sports, Comcast SportsNet and Metro Sports -- the league’s production company which is based in Kansas City, Mo. The game will also be cleared on FSN Midwest on tape-delay at 6:30 p.m. on May 12 and 12:30 p.m. on May 13.
