Player profiles:

Ashlee Clendenen – Clendenen will bring two-time All-Conference, two-time All-Madison County and All-Metro North plaudits when she joins the Sycamores in 2007-08. She was a member of the 2005 State Runner-up team that ranked No. 25 nationally in the NFCA/USA Today high school softball poll. Individually, Clendenen hit .349, striking out only twice in 109 plate appearances. She also recorded eight steals.

Coach Coldren on Clendenen “Ashlee comes from an outstanding program and will be ready to make an impact immediately. She has a great arm, great speed and has the ability to play a number of positions.”

Stephanie Jonson – Jonson will make the short trip from Brazil to join the team in 2007-08. Jonson has already enjoyed a decorated tenure with the Knights, including two-time All-Conference kudos while recording the best ERA on the squad as a sophomore and junior. She compiled a 20-7 record, a 1.63 ERA and 183 strikeouts in 2006, leading Northview to a conference championship and a Big Four Championship with wins over Terre Haute North, Terre Haute South and West Vigo. Jonson is a member of the National Honor Society and National Honor Roll.

Coach Coldren on Jonson“I am excited about Steph’s potential. Steph hasn’t been pitching long but has all the tools to become an outstanding collegiate pitcher. She is a hard worker on the field and excels in the classroom.”

Reva LeDune – LeDune is a three-sport athlete, having lettered in soccer, basketball and softball at Sullivan High School. She led the Golden Arrows in batting average as a sophomore (.416) and a junior (.406), tying or breaking the school’s homerun record in each of the two years. Her numbers have produced back-to-back All-Conference and All-County honors. LeDune is also a member of the National Honor Society and a member of the Student Council.

Coach Coldren on LeDune“Reva is a local player I have been watching for the last two years and she has continued to get better and better. She impresses me with her tenacity and her outstanding work ethic. Reva is a well-rounded player, but I think her best softball years are yet to come!"

Alyssa Heller – Heller joins the Sycamores with several accolades already accumulated after her junior year at Cedar Falls HS. The shortstop garnered first-team All-State, first-team All-Conference and first-team All-Metro honors after batting .452 with 18 doubles, seven home runs and 44 RBI’s. She also picked up Mississippi Valley Conference Player of the Year honors while successfully stealing eleven bases on 12 attempts.

Coach Coldren on Heller“We feel very fortunate to have someone with Alyssa Heller’s athletic ability join our program. She has been around college athletics and knows what it takes to win in the Missouri Valley. Alyssa is a multiple sport athlete who makes everything look easy and will thrive once she has the chance to concentrate on one sport.”

Abby Calloway – Calloway has already set school records at Martinsville High School in fewest hits allowed, fewest runs allowed, most no-hitters and lowest ERA in her two seasons with the Artesians. Calloway is a two-time All-Conference, two-time All-Metro West honoree along with being named third-team All-State as a junior. She has experience in big games with wins in the Indiana 4A state semi-finals as a junior and 4A state final as a sophomore. Also as a sophomore, Calloway led the team in batting average, fielding percentage, on-base percentage and ERA.

Coach Coldren on Calloway“I have been following Abby’s high school and summer career for the last three years and I am more than excited that someone with her history of success has chosen to continue her career at Indiana State University. She will add depth at a number of positions defensively, but her will to win is what really appealed to me.”
