MEN’S TRACK AND FIELD SWEEPS WEEKLY AWARDS

ST. LOUIS, Mo. – The Missouri Valley Conference announced today (Feb. 14) that Kyle Walsh and Jason Carruthers were named Men’s Track and Field Athletes of the week. The accolade is Carruthers’ third of the season and the first for Walsh.

Walsh finished the 3,000-meter run in 8:18.08 and finished 20 out of 100 athletes at the Iowa State Invitational over the weekend. The time was a season and career best for the sophomore and crushed the best time in the 800-meter run in conference by almost seven seconds.

Carruthers threw a season-best 67’11.75” in the 35 lb. weight throw and finished second at the Iowa State Invitational over the weekend. The native of Marietta, Georgia beat out conference leader Mark Milleville (6th) for the second week in a row, fueling the competition for the MVC Indoor Championship in two weeks.

The track and field teams will return to the track this weekend when they travel to Bloomington for the third time this year. Indiana State has performed well on the campus of IU already this season and will have high expectations heading into the Hoosier Hills Open this weekend.
