FRESHMAN KYLIE HUTSON NAMED VALLEY ATHLETE OF THE WEEK
ST. LOUIS, MO. –
Indiana State University freshman Kylie Hutson (Terre Haute North)
was selected as one of the four Missouri Valley Conference Track &
Field Athletes of the Week.
Hutson became a
provisional qualifier for the NCAA Indoor Championships in March
after winning the pole vault competition with a vault of
13-feet-0.25 inches for Indiana State. The jump was a personal best
in her short career and helped the Sycamores down Illinois State in
the Terre Haute Double Dual meet sponsored by Rose-Hulman Institute
of Technology on Saturday afternoon by a score of 94-52.
Other members of the
Indiana State track and field team honored as notables by the
Missouri Valley Conference were:
Dani Prince, a senior from
Bloomington, Ind, took first place in the 3000 meters for the Lady
Sycamores with a time of 9:57.76 at the Terre Haute Double Dual
meet.
For the men’s team: Sean
Wright, a sophomore from South Bend, Ind. was all over the place for
the Sycamores as they downed Illinois State, 98-48 at the Terre
Haute Double Dual meet this past Saturday afternoon. He won the 400
meters with a time of 48.65 which places him in the Top 10 all-time
for the event at ISU, and then anchored the winning 4x400 relay team
that took first with a time of 3:20.01.
Jake Conn, a junior from
Royal Center, Ind., won the pole vault with a mark of 16-0.75.
