HUTSON TIES FOR 15TH IN POLE VAULT AT NCAA CHAMPIONSHIPS

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Indiana State freshman Kylie Hutson finished in a tie for 15th during the women's pole vault competition of the NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships on Saturday. Hutson had a vault of 13-feet-1½ which was her second best jump of the season.

"It was an amazing experience," Hutson said.“I was so nervous that I could hardly breathe. I met a lot of people and I expect to meet them again during the outdoor season."

Hutson, a graduate of Terre Haute North High School, injured her ankle during warmups at the Alex Wilson Invitational a week ago at the University of Notre Dame. Hutson spent many hours with the trainers this past week and was able to compete at the NCAA Indoors.

"All of her hard work paid off," ISU womens coach John Gartland said.“Thanks to the trainers and Kylie's determination, she was able to compete in this meet. She made a great accounting of herself.”

Hutson was the lone representative for the Sycamores.

"I think that if the ankle had been totally healed, I could have done better,” Hutson said. “Right now it is a little sore and I need to ice it. But this was just a great experience. I was so excited."
