36 ATHLETES, TWO COACHES NAMED TO MVC ALL-CENTENNIAL TEAM

ST. LOUIS, Mo. – Indiana State was well represented on the Missouri Valley Conference Track & Field, Cross Country All-Centennial Teams, which were announced today.

Both Indiana State coaches were named to the all-centennial team.

John McNichols is a four-time District V Men’s Outdoor Coach of the Year (1988, 1993, 1997, 2001), seven-time MVC Men’s Outdoor Coach of the Year (1986, 1988, 1990, 1993, 1997, 2001, 2006), and four times named the MVC Cross Country Coach of the Year (1996, 1998, 2004, 2005). In addition, his teams have won six Missouri Valley Conference Outdoor Track & Field titles and four MVC cross country titles, including back to back championships in 2004 and 2005.

John Gartland is a four-time District V Women’s Coach of the Year (1993 Indoor/Outdoor, 1994 Indoor/Outdoor), three-time Women’s MVC Indoor Coach of the Year (1993, 1994, 2001), and five-time Women’s MVC Outdoor Coach of the Year (1992, 1993, 1994, 1998, 1999). His teams have won four MVC indoor track and field titles, six conference titles in outdoor track and field and two MVC Championships in women's cross country.

Twelve athletes were named to the men’s track & field all-centennial team. They include:

Distance – Jordan Fife (All-American and four time MVC champion).

Hurdles – Aubrey Herring (2001 110 meter hurdles national champion, seven time All-American and eight time MVC champion); Chris Lancaster (1990 110 meter hurdles national champion, three-time All-American and 10 time MVC champion); Wil Lash (All-American and two-time MVC champion).

Jumps – Tony Mescall (All-American and MVC champion); Steve Parker (tw0-time All-American and two-time MVC champion); Steve Smith (three-time All-American and two-time MVC champion); Frankie Young (four-time All-American and nine-time MVC champion.

Sprints – Seth Catlin (four-time MVC champion); John Story (All-American and three-time MVC champion).

Throws – Kevin Brown (All-American and two-time MVC champion); Matt Quinn (All-American and three-time MVC champion).

Ten athletes were named to the women’s track & field all-centennial team. They include:

Distance – Debbi Ramseyer (eight-time MVC champion)

Jumps – Melissa Dyal (All-American and four-time MVC champion)

Mid-Distance – Angie Bruecker (All-American and four-time MVC champion)

Sprints – Holli Hyche (seven-time national champion, 10-time All-American, and 11-time MVC champion); Omegia Keeys (two-time All-American and three-time MVC champion)

Throws – Christy Barrett (four-time All-American and six-time MVC champion); Jenny Folz (two-time All-American and six-time MVC champion); Beth Hilton (six-time MVC champion); Julie Koebcke (three-time All-American and five-time MVC champion); and, Carrie Myers (two-time All-American and three-time MVC champion)

Ten athletes were named to the men’s cross country all-centennial team. They include: Sean Bowman (three-time all-MVC); Brent Compton (two-time all-MVC, one-time all-region); George Condy (two-time all-MVC and one-time all-region); Jordan Fife (two-time all-MVC); Jason Gunn (two-time all-MVC, two-time NCAA qualifier, two-time all-region); Kyle Hobbs (two-time all-MVC, one-time NCAA qualifier, one-time all-region); Justin Kunz (one-time All-MVC, one-time NCAA qualifier, one-0time all-region); Eric Rush (three-time all-MVC, one-time all-region); Geoff Wayton (one-time all-MVC and two-time all-region); and, Kurt Wayton (two-time all-MVC) and one-time all-region).

Four athletes were named to the women’s cross country all-centennial team. They include: Amy Cohee (one-time MVC champion and two-time all-MVC); Jessica Crowder (one-time All-American, one-time MVC champion, four-time all-MVC); Angie Menser (three-time all-MVC); and, Debbi Ramseyer (two-time NCAA qualifier, two-time MVC champion and four-time all-MVC).
