SYCAMORES DROP HOME OPENER TO CREIGHTON

Box Score

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – Indiana State opened up its home schedule on Friday after 12 straight matches on the road, but the home court advantage couldn't help the Sycamores overcome a tough Creighton squad as ISU dropped a 3-0 decision. Game scores were 30-20, 30-25, 30-21.

ISU committed nine errors, while only scoring six kills in game one for a -.091 attack percentage which helped the Bluejays to a quick advantage. CU didn't need any help in the second game as they posted a match-high .382 hitting mark. In the third game, Creighton jumped out to a quick 15-5 advantage. The Sycamores mounted a comeback with a 7-0 run, but it was too late to catch the Bluejays.

Senior Katie Freeman led ISU with seven kills and a .136 attack percentage, while Stephanie Meier also recorded seven putaways. Freshman Kristy Cox led the Sycamore defense with 13 digs. Creighton's Leah Ratzleff posted a match-high 18 kills on 25 swings for a .560 attack percentage. The Bluejays also tallied 11 blocks, and were led by Kelly Goc and Jessica Houts who both tallied five.

It is the first win at ISU Arena for Creighton against ISU head coach Julie Krofcheck, who is a former assistant with the Bluejays. Creighton improves to 6-6 on the season and 1-2 in MVC action, while ISU falls to 0-13 overall and 0-3 in the conference. The Sycamores will welcome Drake (0-12, 0-3) to ISU Arena on Saturday at 7 pm.
