SYCAMORES FALL TO DRAKE DESPITE BIG GAME FOR WOLF

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – Indiana State senior Tessa Wolf tallied a season-best 17 kills on 32 swings but could not overcome a strong attack from Drake as the Bulldogs pulled out a 3-0 victory over the Sycamores on Saturday night at ISU Arena. Game scores were 30-25, 30-26, 30-25.

The first game was closely contested until Drake went on an 8-3 run to take a 25-20 advantage, which the Sycamores could not overcome. ISU jumped out to the lead in the second game and maintained an advantage at 20-15, until the Bulldogs turned it on and went on a 15-6 run to take the game. ISU responded in game three after falling behind early, but in the end Drake pulled away to earn the victory.

Wolf's 17 kills is the most for a Sycamore this season and is the third most in her career behind two 18 kill efforts. She finished with a .344 attack mark and three blocks. Sara Smith also had a solid night with nine kills and a .368 hitting percentage. Kristy Cox led the defensive effort with 10 digs, while Alisha Polite and Tera Fish split the setting duties and finished with 19 and 14 assists, respectively.

Megan Veltman starred for the Bulldogs with 16 kills in 37 swings for a .297 mark. Drake finished the match with a .283 attack percentage compared to .144 for the Sycamores.

Indiana State falls to 0-14 on the season and 0-4 in the MVC. The Sycamores will be back on the road next weekend for MVC action as they travels to Evansville and Southern Illinois.
