SYCAMORES CAN'T CAPITALIZE ON EARLY LEAD AGAINST DRAKE

DES MOINES, Iowa – Indiana State got off to a hot start to win game one, but Drake rebounded to take the next three games to earn its second MVC victory of the season on Friday night. Game scores were 26-30, 30-25, 30-16, 30-22.

The Sycamores hit posted 20 kills and hit .390 as they controlled the action in the first game victory. But too many errors cost ISU in the final three games as they couldn't manage to hit over .136 in the final three games. The Sycamores finished the match with 55 kills and a .150 attack percentage, while Drake hit .247 with 64 kills.

ISU did tally 11 blocks including career high totals for Christy Trame and Sarah Smith. Trame finished with an ISU season-high nine blocks, while Smith posted eight. Trame also led the Sycamore offense with 15 kills. Fellow freshman Alisha Polite had an all-around great match as she posted a career-high 14 kills with a .333 attack percentage, 21 assists, three service aces and seven digs. Katie Freeman had also 11 kills with only one error as she hit .357 in the match.

Drake improves to 3-19 overall and 2-8 in the MVC, while ISU drops to 0-21 on the year. The Sycamores travel to Omaha, Neb. to face Creighton on Saturday night in another MVC contest.
