SYCAMORES DOWNED BY ILLINOIS STATE

Box Score

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – Despite another stellar effort from senior Tessa Wolf, Indiana State dropped a 3-0 decision to Illinois State in an MVC contest on Friday night. Game scores were 30-25, 31-29, 30-19.

Wolf started the game on a tear as she posted nine-kills on 13 swings without an error to keep Indiana State in the game, but they could not overcome the Redbirds. The Sycamores pushed Illinois State to the limit in the second game as Christy Trame rallied off two consecutive kills to tie the score at 29-29. However, two kills from the Redbirds gave them the game and the momentum heading into the final frame as they cruised to the win to seal the match.

Wolf finished with a game-high 19 kills and a .441 attack percentage as she maintained her hot play over the past month. Christy Trame also posted 15 kills and a match high four blocks for the Sycamores. Katie Freeman and Meghan Pollard both tallied double-digit digs, with 12 and 11, respectively. Tera Fish posted 22 assists while Alisha Polite added 15 as they shared the setting duties.

The Sycamores hit .129 for the match, compared to a .236 attack percentage for the Redbirds. Illinois State also held a 52-48 advantage in digs, but the Sycamores outblocked the Redbirds 8-7.

Illinois State was led by Emily Kabbes who recorded 12 kills and Laura Doornbos with 11 putaways.

The Redbirds improve to 17-9 overall and maintain their position in second place in the MVC standings with a 13-3 mark, while ISU falls to 0-27 on the season. Indiana State will finish the 2005 season next weekend as they host Wichita State and Missouri State at ISU Arena.
