WICHITA STATE TOO MUCH FOR SYCAMORES

WICHITA, Kan. – The defending MVC champion Wichita State Shockers flexed their muscle on Saturday night and handed the Sycamores a 3-0 defeat in front of 1,640 fans at Charles Koch Arena. Game scores were 30-18, 30-19, 30-15.

Wichita State leads the MVC in attack percentage and opponents attack percentage and they continued to dominate the categories against ISU. The Shockers posted a .372 hitting percentage while holding ISU to a .043 mark.

Senior Katie Freeman led ISU on the night with six kills, eight digs, three aces and two blocks. The Shockers used a balanced attack with no players posting double-digit kills, but having all six players with a kill getting at least four putaways.

Wichita State improves to 8-2 on the season and 2-0 in Missouri Valley Conference action, while ISU falls to 0-12 overall and 0-2 in The Valley. After traveling for the first four weekends and each of their 12 contests, the Sycamores open their home schedule this Friday against Creighton at 7 pm in ISU Arena. The Sycamores will also welcome Drake to Terre Haute on Saturday (Sept. 24) at 7 pm.
