NO. 23 WICHITA STATE OVER POWERS SYCAMORES

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – The 23rd-ranked Wichita State Shockers showed why they are undefeated in conference action this season as they hit .433 in the match to earn a 3-0 victory over Indiana State on Friday night at ISU Arena. Game scores were 30-15, 30-20, 30-18.

The Shockers opened the match with 21 kills on 35 swings with only one error in game one for a .571 attack percentage, while holding ISU to 12 kills in taking a 1-0 lead. The Sycamores hung with the Shockers in the second game, but a string of service aces gave WSU the momentum which they rode to a 2-0 advantage. The Shockers finished with five aces in the second game. In game three, WSU posted a .448 hitting mark while forcing ISU to hit .071 to finish off the sweep.

Tessa Wolf led ISU with nine kills while Christy Trame added eight putaways. Three Shockers posted double-digit kill efforts, including a match-high 12 kills Sara Lungren, who posted a .550 attack percentage. Kristy Cox recorded 10 digs, while Tera Fish tallied 28 assists for ISU. The Shockers held a 7-1 blocking advantage and an 8-2 advantage in service aces.

WSU boosts its win streak to 24 as they improve to 26-2 on the year and 17-0 in conference action, while ISU drops to 0-28 on the season. The Sycamores will finish the 2005 season with senior night at ISU Arena on Saturday against Missouri State at 7 pm.
