SYCAMORE VOLLEYBALL
ADDS THREE FOR 2006
TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – Indiana State volleyball
head coach Julie Krofcheck has brought in three more players for
the 2006 season, with the signing of Sarah Agnich
(Houston, Tex./Stratford HS) and Kristin Hunt
(Reno, Nev./Robert McQueen HS) to National Letters of Intent
and the addition of Robin Bondy (North Salem,
Ind.), who was a student at ISU last year and will join the
team as a redshirt freshman this fall.
“Each of these athletes brings something a little different
to the program,” said Krofcheck. “I am excited about
how each of their strengths compliment the pieces we already have
in place.”
Sarah Agnich (6-0, MB) played three varsity seasons
at Stratford High School and captained the 2005 team to the Texas
State Class 5A semifinals. She also earned first-team all-district
honors after her senior campaign. Agnich plays for the Houston Juniors
club team which qualified for the national tournament.
“Sarah brings some experience to the middle and will make
an immediate impact as she comes from a very competitive club team,
which will help her make a quick transition to the college game,”
said Krofcheck. “She has great potential for growth on the
solid volleyball foundation she will bring with her.”
Kristin Hunt (6-1, MB) earned three letters at
McQueen High School and earned First Team Northern Nevada 4A High
Desert League honors in 2005. She also played for the Capital City
Volleyball Club which is the member of the Northern California Volleyball
Association.
“Kristin brings some height to the program that will be a
valuable asset for us,” said Krofcheck. “In addition,
she is a great competitor and has an intensity about her when she
plays that pushes her to become better on every play.”
Robin Bondy (5-8, DS) is a great athlete that
was a first-team all-conference selection in volleyball and softball
at Tri-West High School. She is also the sister of former Sycamore
Kristin Bondy.
“Robin is a very hard worker who is eager to improve her
skills,” said Krofcheck. “She will add quickness to
the backline and will push the rest of the team with her strong
desire to compete.”
With the additions, the Sycamores will have nine freshmen on the
2006 roster. The first chance to see the 2006 Sycamores will be
in a match against the alumni on Saturday, Aug. 19 at ISU Arena.
ISU will kick off the 2006 campaign at the Central Michigan Invitational
on Friday, Aug. 26 before hosting Eastern Illinois on Tuesday, Aug.
29 in their home opener.
