November 22, 2005 SMITH NAMED TO MVC ALL-ACADEMIC TEAM TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – Indiana State senior Sarah Smith received First Team Missouri Valley Conference Scholar-Athlete honors for her play on the court and her work in the classroom. Smith is a four-year starter for the Sycamores, including all 29 matches this season, while also posting a 3.97 GPA in communication studies. It is the first time that Smith has received the honor, but the second straight year the Sycamores have had a first-team honoree. Smith finished the 2005 season averaging 1.97 kills, which was third-best on the team, while posting the Sycamores second-best attack percentage with a .176 mark. She finished the season as the active career-leader in kills with 621 and blocks with 168. Smith also ended her career ranking sixth in all-time ISU attack percentage with a .225 career average. Smith has been a two-time ISU Verizon Scholar-Athlete and is also active with the Student Athlete Advisory Committee.
