ALUMNI GIVE VOLLEYBALL
TEAM FIRST TEST OF 2006
TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – Indiana State volleyball
head coach Julie Krofcheck got her first look at the 2006 team in
competitive action when the team faced an alumni team of former
players on Saturday afternoon. Freshmen Kelli Whitaker and Jodi
Stoker led the Sycamores in kills with 6 a piece, while Kristy Cox
led the team with 13 digs.
“We are still in a gray area when it comes to starters,”
Krofcheck said after the match. “We had the opportunity of
playing everyone and got a good look at what the team can do in
competitive situations.”
Krofcheck particularly noted the play in the second game with the
current team rolling to a score of 30-17 over the alums.
Joining the alumni team was Sarah Smith and Tessa Wolf (’02-’05),
Kelly Spisak (’01-’04), Lindsay Kennedy (’01-’02),
Kylee Osborne (’00-’03) and Julie Meshberger (Kubiak)
(’92-’95).
“It was great to see the alumni come back and interact with
current members of the team,” Krofcheck said. “I hope
to have more alumni make their way back and make this alumni game
that much bigger and better.”
The Sycamores will be back in action next Wednesday in the annual
Blue/White scrimmage. The players will take to the ISU arena with
play beginning at 6:00 p.m.
