INDIANA STATE FALLS TO UW-GREEN BAY, COX HONORED
TERRE HAUTE, Ind. –
Indiana State dropped a 3-1
decision to UW-Green Bay in the third and final match of the Super 8
Chippewa Classic on Saturday (August 26) evening. The games scores
for the match were 30-22, 30-23, 27-30, 30-24. The Sycamores fall to
0-3 on the season while the Phoenix improves to 1-2. ISU finished
fourth at this weekend’s tournament.
Pacing the Sycamores against
UW-Green Bay was Kelli Whitaker who posted a season-best 14 kills
while hitting .182 for the match. Stephanie Roof pitched in 12 kills
of her own, while owning a .200 attack mark. Whitney Nichols was
credited with 42 set assists while Kristy Cox continued her
impressive play with 28 digs. At the net, Roof led the way with
three total blocks.
For Cox’s effort during the week,
she was named to the All-Super 8 Chippewa Classic Team as the
tournament’s Most Valuable Libero.
Jodi Stoker proved to be valuable
at the service line, as she recorded three aces in the contest. ISU
posted 12 kills in winning game three.
The Sycamores return to action on
Tuesday, August 29 when they return to the ISU Arena for the home
opener against Eastern Illinois. The match begins at 7:00 p.m.
(EST).
