SYCAMORES FALL TO EASTERN ILLINOIS IN CLOSE MATCH
TERRE HAUTE, Ind. –
The volleyball team was in action
Tuesday night against the visiting Eastern Illinois University Panthers.
The team got off to a tremendous start with a 32-30 victory in the
opening game. They went on to drop the next two 30-28 and 30-25
respectively. In the fourth game they came on strong posting a 30-19
victory. This sent the match to a decisive fifth game where the
Sycamores built a lead but saw it slip away, eventually losing 15-8
in the final game.
There were several bright spots
for the Sycamore’s on the evening with Freshman Kelli Whitaker
(New Palastine, Ind. / New Palestine H.S.) posting a team-high
16 kills. She was followed up by the continued strong all-around
play of Senior Stephanie Roof (Bloomington, Ill. / Normal
Community H.S.) who came in second on the team with 13 kills and
also registering a team-high 3 blocks.
The next game for the Sycamores is
Friday September, 1 as they travel to the Duquesne Invitational
(Pittsburg, Pa.) where their first opponent is St. Francis with the
match scheduled to get underway at 3pm (ET).
