SYCAMORES CLAIM VICTORY AT CHICAGO STATE
Chicago, Ill. - - - On Sunday (11/5) the Sycamores
traveled to face non-conference opponent Chicago State in what proved
to be a night where the Sycamores seemed to have everything going.
It was a team effort as every Sycamore who played recorded at least
one kill and at least 3 digs on the night.
The Sycamores were victorious (3-0) by scores of (30-27, 30-18,
and 30-26). The win moves the Sycamores record up to 5-21 (1-13
MVC) and drops the Chicago State record to (0-30) overall.
On a night where everyone put in solid contributions two Sycamores
stood out on offense. Freshman Kelli Whitaker recorded
a team high 10 kills with a .172 attack percentage and fellow Freshman
Kristen Kerscher was second on the team with 8 kills and
a .208 attack percentage. Defensively, as every Sycamore had at
least 3 digs the standout proved to be Senior Stephanie Roof who
had a team high 4 blocks on the night. For Chicago State the standout
both offensively and defensively was Shamara Clark who tallied 8
kills with a .100 attack percentage on offense and 14 digs and 2
blocks defensively.
The Sycamores are in action again next weekend at home in the ISU
Arena as they resume conference play Friday against Northern Iowa
at 7pm (Eastern) and again on Sunday against Bradley at 1pm. The
game against Bradley will mark the last home match of the season
as well as ISU Senior Day.
