SYCAMORES DROP A TOUGH ONE AT DRAKE
Des Moines, Iowa - - - Saturday night (10/28)
the Sycamores traveled to Drake, a team the Sycamores beat previously
this season. That night (9/29) the Sycamores came out on top (3-1)
with solid team play in front of the home crowd. Saturday night
the Sycamore luck was reversed as they fell to Drake (0-3) on the
road in front of an estimated crowd of 203.
The Sycamores dropped 3 straight games (29-31, 26-30, 29-31). The
loss moves Drake up to 5-18 (2-10 MVC) and gives the Sycamores a
record of 4-20 (1-12 MVC).
The key contributors for the Sycamores were a pair of freshman,
Jodi Stoker who tallied 17 kills and 9 digs, and
Stacey Secrest who totaled 36 sets and 12 digs
as she has assumed the primary setter duties in place of injured
Whitney Nichols. Leading the Drake attack was Eve
Johnson who contributed 17 kills with a .316 attack percentage and
Megan Veltman who rung up 10 kills with a .286 attack percentage.
The Sycamores are on the road for a pair of games next weekend.
Friday (11/3) they head to face Illinois State in Normal, Ill. which
is set to start at 7pm Central. Then Saturday (11/4) they meet up
with non-conference opponent Chicago State in Chicago, Ill which
starts at 4pm Central.
