SYCAMORES FALL TO WICHITA STATE IN SEASON FINALE

Wichita, Kan. - - - Saturday night the Sycamores traveled to face Wichita State, a team they lost to (0-3) earlier this season, for what was the final game of the 2006-07 Sycamore Volleyball schedule. The Sycamores were again without the services of Freshman Setter Whitney Nichols who has been replaced in the lineup by another freshman, Stacey Secrest.

For the night the Sycamores racked up 39 kills but they were offset by 25 errors which proved to be costly as the Sycamores fell in straight games (0-3). The scores of the games were (19-30, 18-30, and 28-30) respectively. With the loss the Sycamores ended their season with a record of 5-25 (1-17 MVC) while Wichita State moved to a record of 25-6 (15-3 MVC) as they look forward to the conference tournament.

The key contributor for the Sycamores was Freshman Kelli Whitaker who totaled 13 kills with a .167 attack percentage and 7 digs. Senior Stephanie Roof, in her last match as a Sycamore, contributed 5 kills and 2 blocks. The most outstanding player for Wichita State proved to be Angela Jakubov who tallied 12 kills with a .357 attack percentage, one service ace, 5 digs, and 8 blocks.
