SYCAMORES FALL TO WICHITA STATE

Terre Haute, Ind. - - - Tonight’s match marked the opening of conference play for the Sycamores this season where they faced a tough opponent in The Shockers of Wichita State. The Sycamores fell to the Shockers (3-0) in a match that saw the Sycamores without leading offensive weapon Kelli Whitaker. Sycamores now have an overall record of (3-9) while the Shockers climbed to (9-2).

The Sycamores came out sluggish at the start the match, as a result they fell (30-19) in the first game. In game two the Sycamores continued to struggle finding answers to the Wichita State attack which was lead by Amanda Moore and Stephanie Tokarz, each notching 14 kills to go along with attack percentages of .520 and .462 respectively as the Sycamores fell (30-21). Game three was closer then the score of (30-22) indicates as the Sycamores feel 10-1 to start the game but rallied back to tie the score at 19. Sophomore Libero Kristy Cox keyed the defensive effort for the Sycamores with her strong leadership and 17 digs. Freshman Jodi Stoker and Senior Stephanie Roof combined to show the way on the offensive side of the net.

The Sycamores are in action again Saturday night (9/16) at 5:00pm in the Indiana State arena as they face another conference foe Missouri State.
