SYCAMORES' CRUSH EASTERN KENTUCKY, 91-64

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – The Indiana State women’s basketball team jumped out to a 22-9 lead in the first ten minutes and never looked back as they defeated the Eastern Kentucky Lady Colonels, 91-64, Thursday night (Dec. 9) at the Hulman Center. The win is the fifth straight for the Sycamores (5-1), while the loss drops Eastern Kentucky to 3-4 on the season.

Sycamore guard Lisa Verhoff led all scorers with 23 points, behind the strength of a school-record tying seven 3-pointers. The Elyria, Ohio native was 7-of-10 from beyond the arc and a perfect 2-of-2 from the free throw line. Verhoff's two free throws give her 25 consecutive makes from the charity stripe dating back a contest versus Illinois State on Feb. 22, 2004.

Melanie Boeglin added 20 points off 9-11 shooting from the field with a season high 11 assists. Boeglin also recorded six assists and six steals in 23 minutes of action.

Stephanie Lisch also scored 11 points as 10 players scored for the Sycamores. ISU tallied a season-high nine blocks and were led by freshman Laura Rudolphi.

Center Pam Garrett led the Lady Colonels with 19 points. Garrett made 8-of-12 shots and was 3-of-3 from the free throw line. Forward Miranda Eckerle pitched in 14 points and guard Laura Shelton made 3-of-6 3-pointers to add nine in the losing cause for Eastern Kentucky.

The 91 points scored by the Sycamores is a season-high and the most since a February 12, 2004 win versus Southern Illinois.

ISU returns to the court on Saturday, December 11 when they travel to Dayton, Ohio to take on the Wright State Raiders. Tip-off is set for 2 p.m. (EST).
