INDIANA STATE JUNIOR LAURA RUDOLPHI NAMED ESPN THE MAGAZINE
ACADEMIC ALL-AMERICAN
TERRE HAUTE,
Ind.
– Indiana State junior center Laura Rudolphi (Carlyle,
Ill./High) has been named an ESPN The Magazine Third Team
Academic All-American as awarded by the College Sports
Information Directors of America earlier today.
Earlier this month,
Rudolphi was named an ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District V
First Team member.
Rudolphi, who carries
a 4.0 GPA in Business Insurance, averages 14.5 points
(seventh-best in the Valley) as well as 7.0 rebounds
(fourth-best in the Valley) per game. She owns an Indiana State
record 97 blocked shots and her 32 blocks this year are
third-most in the history of the program.
Rudolphi posted a
career-best point total of 23 points against both Missouri State
and Evansville this season. She recorded a career-best 12
rebounds in a 76-66 road victory over Illinois State. Rudolphi
has reached double figures scoring in 15-of-16 Missouri Valley
Conference games this season.
Melanie Boeglin earned
the program’s first-ever Academic All-America honor last season
following her stand-out senior campaign. Boeglin was a first
team honoree.
The Sycamores return
to action on Thursday, March 1 when they travel to Creighton for
a key league battle with the Bluejays. Tip-off from the Omaha
Civic Auditorium is set for 8:05 p.m. (ET).
