Athletic Training at Indiana State University has a rich history in Education, Research and Clinical Practice. Athletic Training education began with one class in 1962 and has progressed to an undergraduate athletic training education program (CAATE ACCREDITED) and a Graduate Post-Professional Education Program (NATA-PPERC ACCREDITED). The clinical staff are active in providing health care services to athletes in Intercollegiate athletics as well as a rehabilitation clinic servicing the public.
The athletic training programs focus on critical thinking, problem solving skills and evidence based clinical practice. Both graduate and undergraduate students participate in clinical education in local high schools, St. Ann’s Clinic (underserved populations), rehabilitation clinics and collegiate athletics.
Interprofessional integration in professional practice is also a focus of the department and program. Faculty, Staff and Students participate in inter-professional education and collaboration to facilitate optimal patient care and interdisciplinary communication through Speaker series, cross-discipline education, case study workshops across health care majors, guest instructors in orthopedics for the Indiana University-Terre Haute Medical Students and cross-course integration.
Athletic Training alumni from ISU have made a significant impact on the ATHLETIC training profession. The Athletic Training Faculty, staff, and alumni congratulate all of our Hall of Fame Inductees.
