from the dean
A sycamore welcome
Welcome
on behalf of the
College of Business at Indiana State
University!
I invite you to discover our outstanding programs and to
see the accomplishments of our students, alumni, faculty, and
staff.
All of the undergraduate and
graduate
programs of the College of Business
are accredited by the premier
AACSB - International, the Association for Advancement
of Collegiate Schools of Business, a tribute to the quality of our
programs, faculty, and students.
Our Masters of Business Administration (MBA)
program continues to be recognized as
one
of the nation’s best by the Princeton Review
and is
offered in the evenings to full-time and part-time students.
Close to 1,100 undergraduate students are
completing one or more of our
11
business majors, ranging from Accounting to Operations
Management & Analysis.
Program minors include
forensic accounting,
motorsports
management, and other areas of business.
Our
insurance
and risk management undergraduate program was recently profiled
among the
best eight in the nation by
Risk Management Magazine.
Building upon a strong base in insurance and risk management, finance,
and accounting, we have expanded programming in investments and
securities, as well as banking.
These components have led to ISU naming Financial Services as a
Program of National Distinction.
Learning is
at the heart of what we do as
students, faculty, and citizens. The College of Business
focuses student learning in relatively small classes with caring
faculty and staff
who assist students with experiential learning assignments and
activities. Many of our
seniors are part of
Sycamore Business Advisors, an
award-winning
innovation in business education.
Our students and faculty take advantage of a new financial
trading room facility, investment software, and numerous financial and
other business data sources. The
Minas Center for Investment and Financial Education
supports operations of the trading room and the Student Investment Club,
which manages a portfolio of half a million dollars. This year, we
are also developing a
Center for Sales and Negotiations
in the college.
The development of business students is
enhanced by student organizations,
international study trips, internships, and other activities connecting
to the community and our students’ future professions. The College of Business'
Center for Student Professional Development (formerly the Career
Experience Center) bridges with industry and offers professional
development and opportunities for students across the business majors.
Our centers and institutes include the
Gongaware
Center
for Insurance and Financial Services and the
Networks Financial Institute,
a distinctive organization focused on financial literacy, student
scholarship and development, public policy, and research.
I invite you to examine our programs,
visit our campus, and to
contact me or any of our
faculty and staff
members. We look forward to
hearing from you.
Sincerely,
Nancy
