Managing Course Menu Buttons

Return to tutorial list

At times you may not need or want all of the Course Menu buttons to show.  For example, if you are using Blackboard in support of a face to face class you may not want to use the Staff Information feature instead you will deliver that information in class.  The best option is to hide the button from the view of the students rather than removing the button.  You can remove buttons but in some cases that can also limit the functionality of Blackboard.

To hide a Course Menu button, enter your course and click on the Control Panel link.

Under Course Options in the Control Panel screen, click on the Manage Course Menu button.

When the Manage Course Menu screen opens find the title of the button you want to hide and click on the Modify button.

In the Set Area Properties screen, remove the check mark in the box next to Available for Student/Participant users.

Clicking on the Submit button will complete the process.

Click ok on the receipt to return to the Manage Course Menu screen.

Under the item you just edited you should find confirmation that the button is no longer available for students.

To restore a button, simply add a check mark next to availability and submit.
