There might be times when you want to restrict a student's access to your course. Rather than removing the student from the course (which also deletes all of that student's records or grades) you can simply deny access.
To do this enter your course and click on the Control Panel link.

Under User Management, click on the List/Modify Users link.

In the List/Modify screen you can search your class list by last name, username or email address.

You can also list all the students in the course by clicking on the List All tab.

If you want to continue, click on the list all button in the dialog box.

The student list will open. To start the process to deny access, find the student you wish to deny access and click on the properties button on the right of the screen.

Once the student's information screen opens, scroll to the bottom of the page.

Change the availability for your course to No.

Click on submit to complete this action.

The receipt will show that the student is no longer able to access your course.

The next time you access your student list an icon will show what students can no longer access your course.
